Christine Jenkins was born on October 6, 1940 to the late Milton Woodson and Virginia Hazelwood in Lunenburg County Virginia. She was the oldest of 4 children Elton, Curtis, and Floyd. She transitioned peacefully on September 7, 2025.
At an early age Christine was adopted by her late uncle and his wife Gladies and Anna Hazelwood.
Christine "Tine" was educated in the Lunenburg Co public school system where she graduated with high honors from Lunenburg High in 1958. Tine moved to Baltimore, Md where she met and married the late Joseph L. Jenkins Sr. Through this union they had 5 children, Joseph Jr, Kirk, Brenda, Kevin, and Kim.
Christine worked for Fredrick Villa Nursing Home for over 30 years until she retired in 2007.
Christine enjoyed the simple things in life, spending time with family, cooking, bus trips to Atlantic City, and waking up early on Saturdays looking for yard sales with her cousins the late Evelyn and Aubry Parker, and Maxine Winn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Jenkins Sr, two sons Joseph L. Jenkins Jr, and Kevin Jenkins, 5 siblings Elton, Curtis, Floyd, Calvin, and Roy, and her best friend Ellaree Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, One son Kirk G. Jenkins Sr, 2 daughters Brenda and Kimberley Jenkins, one son-in-law Dimonic Sr. One brother Chester Hazelwood, one sister Gladies Hazelwood, 2 sisters-in-law's Deloris and Jane Hazelwood. 17 Grandchildren: Tiffany, Shannon (Gordon Sr), Tinika, Latanya, Aaron, Amber, Travis, Kia, Shawnta, Tyceya, Kirk Jr, Danaye, Ebony, Dymond, Jeffery, Robert, Dimonic Jr. 20 Great-grandchildren: Tremaine, Dayauna, Zaria, Asia, Zykera, Kamaira, Micah, Mason, Gordon Jr, Brandon, Gisele, Kha'liyah, Austin, Zeyah, A'miya, A'ziya, Aryin', Azuri, Landyn, Wynter and 1 Great-Great Grandchild: Cali and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
