Obituary
Christine Lillian Krueger
Age 66, passed away on July 8, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. Christine was born in Wausau, WI, the daughter of William R. Krueger and Lilian A. (Young) Krueger. She graduated from Lawrence University. She went on to Princeton University where she received her M.A. and PhD. She joined the English Faculty at Marquette in 1985. An inspiring teacher of undergraduates and graduate researchers alike, Professor Krueger explored the many and subtle intersections among Victorian literature and culture generally, and especially theology and preaching. She taught courses in Victorian Literature, Literature and Law, and Women and Literature. Her research interests were in the "long nineteenth century" (1780-1900) because the period faced the same challenges as current culture with optimism and energy. Recently, press interest in her studies of nineteenth century women historians encouraged her to near the end of her biography of Mary Anne Everrett Green.
During Christine's career, she received many awards and honors, including the inaugural Way-Klingler Award in Interdisciplinary Teaching. She is survived by her husband, Albert R. Braunmuller, her sister-in-law, Rae Jean B. Goodman, her brother-in-law, Robert P. Goodman, her niece, Sarah E. Goodman, her nephew, Albert R. Goodman, and many dear friends and colleagues.
Christine was a lover of animals especially her border collie, Charlie.
Memorials in Dr. Krueger's name can be made to the Wisconsin Humane Society or Wisconsin Border Collie Rescue.
