Christopher Banner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anniston Memorial Funeral Home on Feb. 21, 2026.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Christopher "Chris" Grant Banner, 50, of Jacksonville, will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Personal remarks and memories of Chris will be shared by his brother, Steve Rodriguez.

Chris died on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Preceding Chris in death were his parents, Melven Grant Banner and Bettie Jean Crossley Banner; his brother, Richard Rodriguez; and his brother-in-law, Neuford Combs.

Those left to cherish the memory of Chris include his sister, Vicki Combs; his brothers, Johnny Rodriguez (Cindy), Stephen Rodriguez (Jane), and Kenneth Rodriguez (Sheila); nieces and nephews, Keyna Vialpando (Val), Jason Combs (Laura), Jonathan Rodriguez (Laura), Joseph Rodriguez (Stephanie), Sara Graves (Matt), and Kathryn Rodriguez; five great-nieces; 8 great-nephews; his sister-in-law, Geraldine Rodriguez; and a host of cousins, extended family, and numerous friends.

Chris was a 1993 graduate of Saks High School. After graduation he attended JSU where he focused on Music Education. While at JSU, Chris was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the Marching Southerners where he marched trombone, and was a member of Ethan and the Ewoks where he played bass guitar. Chris, however, was not limited to only two instruments. He was extremely musically inclined, playing many instruments and loved many genres of music as well. To know Chris was to love him. He was very independent and gifted in so many areas of his life. Recently in life Chris had been working as a radiology technician for American Family Care. In his spare time Chris continued his love for music, playing and singing, and cheering on the Crimson Tide of which he was an avid fan. Chris will be greatly missed but forever remembered for his intellect, love for music, and the wonderful person he grew to become.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for donations to be made in Chris's memory to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), https://namialabama.org/get-involved/donate/.
