John Woodrow Banner, 91, went home to be with his Lord Monday afternoon, February 16, 2026, at Woltz Hospice Home.

John was born on December 19, 1934, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Reuben and Mamie Johnson Banner. John was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a member of Corinth Church of Christ where he served as an Elder. He served on the church board for over 70 years. John was a brick mason and retired from Frank L. Blum Construction Co. with 30 plus years of service.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Winters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Nora Sue Grubbs Banner; 2 daughters, Kathy Bennett (Dennis) and Ivy Banner; 2 granddaughters, Laura Overcash (Darren), and Sherri Winkler (David); great-grandson, Andrew Winkler; and 2 sisters, Linda Weaver (Wilbur Lee), and Judy Thomas.

There will be a 2 pm funeral service held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Corinth Church of Christ with Pastor Randy Elliott and Pastor Dereck Mushayamunda officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 1 to 2 pm at Corinth Church of Christ and other times at his home.
