Christopher Calvert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Owen Funeral Home - Dixie Highway on Mar. 6, 2026.
CALVERT, Christopher L., 64, passed away March 3, 2026.

Born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Charles and Nancy Calvert, Chris was a passionate sports fan of all types. He rarely missed a chance to cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs or the Kansas University and North Carolina basketball teams. He was an employee of Von Maur and enjoyed his relationships with his coworkers as good friends. He loved all types of music and had a deep appreciation for art and film, often sharing his sharp insights and spirited critiques as a self-proclaimed movie critic. He also loved old muscle cars, especially the Golden Age cars of the 60's and 70's.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy (McGee) Calvert, and his niece, Alisha Huffman.

He is survived by his father, Charles; his siblings, Pamela Calvert (Lee DeForest), Curtis Calvert, sister-in-law, Denise Calvert; nieces, Kate (J.T), Kennedy, and nephew Neil (Haley); great nephew, Lincoln and great niece, Lacy.

Met Chris in 2nd grade. We went to the same school together until we graduated in 1980. Chris was always kind to me and I have fond memories from our childhood. Prayers to his family and may his memories comfort you during this difficult time. So sorry for your loss.

Met Chris in 2nd grade at Chapel Hill. Lots of fond memories of playing hoops, messing around at school, hanging out and just being friends. Chris was a rare breed - kindness with a dash of panache. Condolences to Curtis and rest of the family.

This broke my heart, I heard of Chris's passing while out on the road. In the short 4 years I've known Chris, he took me under his wing and we shared the love of sports together. Whether it was teaching me the way of fashion and suits, going to Louisville games, or just hanging out at your place watching games and talking about life. I'm so glad that I asked you to be one of my groomsmen for my wedding.
Lily, Jaxon, Hayleigh, and myself won't forget the memories we made together.
Take care brother, and see you on the other side. Go Chiefs!
