Scotty Calvert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery on Mar. 3, 2026.
Rev. Scotty C Calvert, 87, of Evansville, IN was called home to the Lord and reunited with the love of his life Sandy on February 27, 2026 at the Linda White Hospice, after a brief but serious illness. Scotty was born on July 19, 1938 to Edward E Calvert and Lillian Barrett Calvert.

Scotty joined the Marines in January of 1957, with the 3rd Division out of Camp Pendleton. He was stationed in Okinawa and left the Marines in February of 1959. He was proud of his service and was honored to be a veteran.

Scotty started his career as a butcher at Royal IGA on Fulton in Evansville, he then worked for McKain's Key Markets, before opening Scotty's Country Store in Chandler in 1989 with his wife Sandy. Scotty retired from butchering while working at Dewig's Meats in Haubstadt. Retirement didn't agree with Scotty, so he took a Part-Time job with Farm Boy and started a lawn care business.

Scotty met the love of his life Sandra Wilhite, in 1959 and had a great sense to marry her on July 23, 1960. They worked alongside each other both in building their home and having a family, as well as having careers where they worked with each other every day.

Scotty's true passion was serving the Lord. He became saved and devoted his life to leading others to the truth of Christ. He helped build Calvery Temple Assembly of God and grew the church membership in Evansville and went on to help build and grow the Cathedral of Praise Church on Mesker Park Road, where he was an associate Pastor. He ministered in other states and was able to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. He was a kind man, who had deep faith in the Lord and lived his life following the Lord.

He is survived by his sister Lula Belle Crawford of Texas, his sister-in-law Sheila Bowers of Evansville; His children Veronica Parsley (Widow) of Evansville, Donna McReynolds of Evansville, Eddy Calvert (Lisa) of Spottsville, KY, Hope Shealey of Evansville. His 8 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 58 years, Sandra Wilhite Calvert. His Mother and Father, his brother Edward E Calvert Jr., his sisters Joyce Welborn, Thelma McKinsey, and Juanita Whdye, and son-in-law Ernie Parsley.

Scotty was deeply loved by his family, friends and church and he will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be on Saturday March 7th from 1-3pm, with funeral services following at 3pm. Interment will immediately follow at Calvert Cemetery on highway 65 (Big Cynthiana Road) 2.8 miles North of Baseline Road.

Scotty is one of the most godly men that i have had the pleasure of getting to know over the last several years of his life. I'm blessed to have met him in my life. He was a pray warrior and he prayed all the time for others including me.
Love Cindy Davis.
