Christopher David "Farley" Claiborne passed away Saturday, December 6, in his home in
Boise, Idaho, after a lengthy battle with MSA-P.
Chris, 'Farley' to his friends, was born in
Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 20, 1976, to David and Donna Claiborne. He was the youngest of a family with three children, including older sisters Shawna Sprowls and Julie Careaga. The family also lived in Tempe, Arizona, before returning to their home state of Idaho in the early 80s, moving to Twin Falls, Idaho, where he attended Sawtooth Elementary, O'Leary Junior High School and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1994.
Chris relocated to Boise in the late 90s, working at Mr. Ragz clothing store at the Boise Towne Square mall. He then moved in the world of banking, working with his dear friend Todd Chestnut from Twin Falls then moving on to Mountain West where he worked until early 2025 as a Senior Trainer, then as a Trainer Assistant as his disease progressed and he worked part-time from home. Chris truly loved his job, and particularly his co-workers, with whom he made many great memories traveling, helping out in the community and making work as fun as possible.
Chris had many interests – he loved to golf, fish, play poker, camp, trap shoot, raft, play guitar, attend music festivals, travel – particularly to Canon Beach, Oregon, often accompanied by his friends Ryan, Kevin, Chris, Todd – where he enjoyed spending time on the beach and with his aunt Paula, uncle Bill and cousin Brandy. Chris also had a great love of football which he eagerly passed on to his nephews and enjoyed coaching them for many seasons. But most of all, Chris loved the Minnesota Vikings. He organized a fantasy football group that has been active for nearly 25 years.
Chris is survived by his mother Donna Laughlin of Meridian, sister Julie Careaga, brother-in-law Jeff Careaga and nephews Parker and Brayden all of Meridian, sister Shawna Sprowls and brother-in-law Patrick Sprowls, his adorable 4-legged Yorkie best friend, Jaxx, many aunts, uncles and cousins in Arizona, Oregon, Utah, Texas and beyond, and scores of dear friends who will miss him dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., at Honalee Farm Event Center, 7010 W Moon Valley Rd, Eagle, ID 83616. All are welcome.
