Christopher Hanke Obituary

Christopher was a culinary school graduate and worked as Head Chef and Manager of Trusthouse Forte in Secaucus, NJ. Christopher owned and operated his own carpentry business and also worked as a service technician for Starbucks out of East Hanover, NJ. He was the former President and member of the Garden State GTO Club, volunteer for the Vernon Historical Society and enjoyed drives in the 1969 Convertible GTO and cooking for family and friends.
Christopher was the beloved husband for 34 years of Lauren (Rood) Hanke of Highland Lakes, NJ. Dear brother of Jonathan Hanke and his wife, Merrill, of FL, and Edward Hanke and his wife, Linda, of PA, and Alissa, of a former marriage. Uncle of Lauren (Hanke) Verni and her husband, Christopher, of MA, and his great nephew, Carter. Christopher is predeceased by his nephew, Louis Hanke.
The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, NJ on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 12 to 4 PM. Cremation is private. Reception to follow Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the Highland Lakes Country Club from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.

I was shocked to hear that Chris passed away. He and Laurie have been my friends for 25 years and we enjoyed many good times together. Even though I haven't seen Chris for a few years, I will miss him. May he rest in peace.

Stacy & I met Chris & Laurie in the parking lot at a car show in Wayne, NJ in 1995 and we instantly bonded, being we have the same GTO as he (well it was his mom's car at that time.. lol). We became real close. Chris was a past president of the Garden State GTO in North Jersey and he was always a go-getter making the club the best it could be. The passion he had for the club was incredible..! Our trip to Atlanta Ga for the GTOAA convention in 1997 was adventurous with Bob Moore and his 2 sons. As life goes on, we grew apart due to me moving to Pa, but anytime we spoke on the phone, it seems like where we left off, not missing a beat. We will certainly miss the friendship we had and will always remember the fun times at car shows, and at our car club Christmas parties. Rest in peace Chris...
