Christopher C. Hicklin, of Prince William County, Virginia passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024. Born on December 17, 1940, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Christopher was the cherished son of George and Susie Hicklin.
A devoted scholar, Christopher graduated from Emmett Scott High School and attended Hampton Institute (Hampton University) shortly after. He finished his education at Northern Virginia Community College, exemplifying a lifelong passion for learning. He shared a remarkable love story with his wife, Ingrid Parris-Hicklin, celebrating 50 beautiful years of marriage.
Christopher proudly served in The United States Army and enjoyed a distinguished career in federal service, retiring as Chief of Technology Information. His commitment was recognized with the Achievement Medal for Civilian Service, which praised his selfless dedication to his career. The award stated, "Mr. Hicklin selfless service and technical expertise contributed greatly to the successful completion of numerous Army initiatives to the information technology infrastructure. His achievement, dedication and exemplary performance of duties accumulated a distinguished federal career of 46 years. Mr. Hicklin's leadership, professionalism and commitment reflect great credit upon himself, US Army Signal Network Enterprise Center - Fort Belvoir and the United States Army."
Family was the heart of Christopher's life. As a young father, he began every Sunday with Mass before joyfully coaching his sons in soccer. He was also a passionate softball player, leading several teams at Holy Family Catholic Church. As a member of the Knights of Columbus he embraced every opportunity to serve his community.
Christopher's zest for life was also evident as a consultant of his wife's television show, Ingrid's World, where he helped bring 145 episodes to life at Fairfax Public Access. His laughter, warmth, and unwavering support left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
He was an active member of several organizations, including Knights of Columbus, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Prince William County Chapter, The Links, Incorporated, Old Dominion Chapter (VA), Fairfax Public Access, and the Rotary Club of Tysons Corner, where he forged lasting friendships and made meaningful contributions.
Christopher is preceded in death by his parents George and Susie Hicklin, siblings Minnie Pearl Hicklin, Esau Hicklin, Susie H. Thompson, Ruth H. Barber, Geraldine H. Sanders, George Hicklin, Jr., and Sarah J. Hicklin.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ingrid Parris-Hicklin; sons Jabbar Hicklin, Kevin Hicklin, and Colin Hicklin; brother Jakie Hicklin, sisters Rosa Blondia Blake, Mary H. McNeely, Margie Hicklin, and Thelma H. Cotton; sister-in-law Kimberley Parris; granddaughter Alyssa Parris Hicklin; and many devoted nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.
