Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hughes Funeral Home and Crematory - Daphne on Mar. 12, 2024.
Always eager to be at the beach, dark-thirty Saturday morning on March 9, 2024, Chris Hinton was in his element, doing what he loved to do best, fishing from the shore of Orange Beach. In his estimation, it was as near to Paradise as Alabama could provide. Adding to the excitement of this day, the pompano were running. Chris snagged one early on. Then came the thrill of the fight and successful landing of a 42" Redfish on the beach. Is this a fish story? Just look at that picture! The catch, a photo, and release back into the water. The fight was fierce enough to twist and tangle the lines of two poles. Although there was nothing extraordinary about a snarled line, most unexpectedly while he was unknotting the lines, the LORD reached down and called Chris into His Heavenly Paradise. His fishing buddy, Doug Vermeulen, rushed to his aide, but Chris was already present with the LORD.
Born on Mare Island, California, Chris moved extensively as a child because his father was in the Navy. Constantly on the move with his family, he lived in mostly coastal areas, all over the United States as well as Guam.
Chris is predeceased by his father, William Ralph Hinton and mother, Violet Beatrice Cathey; and brother, William R Hinton, Jr. (Debbie). He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Janet Bryan Hinton; son, Cory Michael Hinton (Casey); brother, Larry Hinton (Wanda); sister, Cathey Hebert (Alan); two granddaughters, Camille and Caroline; nieces and nephews, Stacy Welch (Jimmy), Christy Eller (Ryan),and Chad Hinton (Devon), great nieces and nephews as well as several cousins; and his many friends; as well as his dog, Ziggy, who is inconsolable.
A graduate of Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, with a BFA in Graphic Design, Chris enjoyed a long career in the jewelry industry and was primarily employed by Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry of Louisiana as a manager and diamond buyer. In his later career, he was employed by Sid Potts Private Jewelry of Shreveport. In his mid 60's Chris desired a change and he and his wife moved to
Fairhope, Alabama where he established a successful private jewelry business, CMH Designs which primarily helped countless young couples design their custom dream engagement rings. Simultaneously he became a successful Realtor with Exit Realty Gulf Shores affiliating with Brokers Tom and Tony Stanton and their son, Tommy. In 2023 he was a member of the Exit Realty Gulf Shores $4 million $ club and was #5 in top listings for Exit Realty Gulf Shores. Just last week he passed the ABR exam to be an Accredited Buyer's Representative, adding to his expertise in real estate. He never stopped trying to get better at everything he did.
Chris loved the LORD Jesus and served His church as an ordained Deacon. He served as a Bible Study Fellowship Group Leader for many years in Shreveport and continued to enjoy BSF in Fairhope. Service was his gift. He loved to help others, daily looking for ways of assisting others. He was a humble, selfless, gentle, quiet, faithful, steadfast, and dependable man of many talents, who just quietly went about seeking to help whoever needed a helping hand. His life on earth was full of God's grace which he poured out on others. We give thanks to God for the life of Chris Hinton. In life and in death he belongs to the LORD.
Chris would encourage you: Today is the day of salvation. "Today if only you would hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts." Psalm 95: 7-8
