Chris was born on July 13, 1972 in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents Melvin and Sandra (Dvorak) Husak. He graduated from South Tama High School with the class of 1991.
In 1992, he met the love of his life, Kris Perkins, and the couple was united in marriage on June 29, 1996 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. Together they made their home north of Toledo until 2001 when they moved south of Le Grand to their forever home.
Hardworking and dedicated, Chris always had many jobs concurrently. After high school, Chris worked at Lennox Industries, was a rural mail carrier, and began farming. During this time, he began to think about starting his own backhoe and trenching business. Shortly thereafter, he met Arnold Gummert who became a close friend and mentor. Arnold encouraged Chris to pursue his dreams, and in 1996, Husak Plumbing Trenching & Backhoe was born. Known today as Husak Tiling & Excavation, where he and his brother Matt were co-operators. Chris always worked sunrise to sunset, as well as evenings, weekends and holidays if his customers were in need. He loved talking with people, didn't know a stranger, and his many valued customers became friends. Chris was known to always have a grin on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He had a gentle soul, and was a humble, noble man of great faith, with a big heart and one of a kind personality. His knowledge was vast and his skills almost unending, and all whom spent time with Chris learned from him. Summarized best by one of his close friends, "The crater left behind by Chris can't be filled by 10 men". He instilled a great work ethic in all 3 of his children, and they were his pride and joy. His legacy will continue on with them.
Though his free time was few and far between, it was spent with family. Chris loved a Sunday shopping outing, especially if a bargain was to be had. He always enjoyed dining out with family and friends. An avid collector of tractors of any color, he spent much time repairing or restoring them, for himself and others. He always looked forward to attending tractor pulls with his kids, and farm shows with family and friends.
Chris will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him, including his wife of 27 years, Kris and their children, Evan, Madison and Gavin; Mother, Sandra of rural LeGrand; Brother Matt (Jess) Husak and their children, Connor, Brady, Peyton and Tyler, of Toledo; Sister Julie (Jason) Tiedeman and their son Gage, Urbandale; Brother in law Bryan (Kandi) Schubert and their children Megan, Brookelynn and Bryanna of Estill Springs, Tennessee; Sister in law Michelle Perkins and her children Ryan and Leah Grobe, Marshalltown. In laws: Sally and Wes Halsted of Marshalltown, and Linda Perkins and Bob Rush of Marshalltown. Along with aunts, uncles and cousins, and his dog Heidi.
Chris was preceded in death by his beloved father Melvin in 2003.
