Christopher Todd Key

Christopher Todd Key, affectionately known as Todd, was born on January 12, 1969, in Guilford County, North Carolina. He passed away in his hometown on April 22, 2025, at the age of 56.
Todd was a dedicated and skilled electrician who worked in the commercial and residential industry for nearly 40 years. His commitment to his craft was evident in the many homes and businesses he helped illuminate throughout his career.
Outside of his profession, Todd had a diverse array of interests. He was an avid gun collector, enjoyed dove hunting, grilling out, watching football and NASCAR, and attending football games at his alma mater, Northeast Guilford High School. Todd was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan, a lifetime Dale Earnhardt fan, and a collector of memorabilia of both. He loved music and was a member of several local rock bands in his earlier years. As a lead singer, he competed in the battle of the bands at the local GYC carnival and later picked up a love for the bass guitar. As a child, he competed in horse shows and was a member of the Boy Scouts, receiving countless accolades in both activities. Todd's biggest loves were his family and pets. Todd was also known for enjoying life's simpler pleasures, often sharing stories and laughs over drinks with friends.
A member of Masonic Revolution Lodge 552, Todd valued the connections and community he found there. His presence will be missed by his fellow brothers and all those who knew him.
Todd is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Nancy Smith, and his canine children, Bear and Emma. He leaves behind a devoted family who cherishes his memory: his father, Kenneth Key, Jr.; sister, Heather Owens (Gabriel); brothers, Scott Key (Priscilla) and Dale Key; and nephews, Keyton Owens, Alex Key and Nick Key. They, along with his friends and extended family, mourn his loss and celebrate the life he lived.
A memorial service to honor and remember Todd's life will be held at Lakeview Memorial Park Chapel on May 2, 2025, at 3 pm. Family and friends are invited to gather, reflect, and pay their respects to a well-lived life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the local ASPCA in Todd's name.
