Christopher Liebergen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Summit Funeral & Cremation from Jan. 19 to Jan. 20, 2026.
Christopher (Chris) Michael Liebergen passed away peacefully following a brief illness on January 14, 2026, in Minneapolis, MN.

Chris was born on April 9, 1977, to Kathryn and Patrick Liebergen in Boulder, CO. He was raised in Menomonie, WI. He attended Menomonie High School where he played football and basketball and graduated in 1996. He later went on to attend the Minnesota School of Business and obtained his Associate Degree in Exercise Science, Concordia University where he got his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, and California University of Pennsylvania where he received his Master of Science in Exercise Science, Health Promotion and Injury Prevention. He was in the process of completing his Doctor of Public Health - Epidemiology from Capella University. Chris worked for many years as a Certified Personal Trainer in the health club industry before starting his own business, Integrated Health Sync Inc., which provided personal training, health and wellness consulting and corporate fitness programming. Chris obtained many nationally recognized certifications for his industry. He loved working with a diverse set of clients and helping them achieve their health, wellness and fitness goals. In 2024, he began his dream job of being an adjunct professor of Human Physiology at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. Teaching was his passion, and he loved working with students.

At a young age, Chris became very involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He was highly active with his troops and for several summers worked at Camp Phillips near Rice Lake, WI. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow. Through his connections, Chris became very engaged with the Native American community and was a Men's Feather Fancy Dancer with the Anisahaha Dancers and even designed and created his own dance regalia. He was highly skilled at all crafts. Chris loved going on annual canoe trips with his father and brother down the Namekagon River. As an adult, he was an avid fisherman and cherished his annual fishing trips to Hayward, WI. He had recently purchased a boat and was looking forward to many future fishing trips.

Growing up in Wisconsin, Chris was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, but he was also a devoted Minnesota Twins, Timberwolves and Wild fan. He also loved to cook, especially for other people. He was a BBQ aficionado and enjoyed using his smoker whenever he got a chance. He loved trying new restaurants and venturing out to try new cuisines. His favorites were sushi, ramen and anything hot and spicy. Chris could handle the hottest of the hot when it came to sauces, and he even made his own hot sauces by growing Ghost Peppers, Scorpions and Carolina Reapers each summer in the garden.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Wilkins; mother, Kathryn Liebergen; brother, Justin (Roberta) Liebergen, and nephews Austin and Hudson Liebergen, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick M. Liebergen; maternal grandmother, Leatrice Klaubauf; maternal grandfather, Edward Klaubauf; paternal grandmother, Deloris Liebergen; paternal grandfather, William (Bill) Liebergen, and his two dogs Kozmo and Tobie.

A celebration of life will be held this spring in Green Bay, WI.

I had Chris as a professor at St. Thomas, and he was always very passionate about what he was teaching for the day. Both being from Wisconsin, we talked a lot about the Green Bay Packers. He was very kind and positive towards every one of his students.
