Christopher Paul Maille

Christopher Paul Maille, age 48, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
Born in Lowell, on April 22, 1977, Chris was the son of David and the late Dianne (Nadeau) Maille. Chris was a wonderful son who inherited his genuine kindness and compassion for others from his mother. Since her passing, Chris was always there for his father who he lovingly called Pops or Old Man.
From Morey Street to Market Street, The Old Court to The Owl Diner, Chris was proud to be raised and live in Lowell. He was a graduate of St. Margaret's School and a 1995 graduate of Chelmsford High School. During his short stint in Chelmsford, Chris formed friendships that grew into an enduring brotherhood strengthened by good times, hardships, love, and losses.
Chris graduated from Suffolk University and spent his career dedicated to serving special education K-12 students. He began his career at the Lowell Community Public Charter School and for the last 16 years, served as a high school special education history teacher at the Greater Lawrence Technical School, where he co-taught with his dear friend, Chris Burke, and was honored to be the godfather to his first child. A master at crafting lessons that went right to the bell, Chris' students knew that having Mr. Maille on your team meant they were cared for, expected to work hard, and laughs were essential to the learning process.
Having an unmatched zest for life, Chris spent his last day playing cornhole (and winning!) with seven of his best friends of 30 years. Together that day, they shared a reunion by feasting on Dave's hot chicken, cracking jokes, and watching Leroy, his dog and sidekick in life, jump in and out of a pool at the home of Gonzo, his chosen brother in life. Chris passed away later that evening surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Chris greatly enjoyed being an uncle to his two nieces Maille and Catelyn. He struck a balance of jokes, encouragement and perspective that always made them smile, think, and wonder what Uncle Chris would say next. Chris and his sister Carrie shared an immeasurable love for each other, and she, along with her husband Andy, cherished the ever-present role he played in their daughters' lives.
Chris grew up playing baseball and was an avid sports fan, particularly his beloved Boston Celtics. He had a love/hate relationship with golf and cherished rounds with his father and friends at Mt. Pleasant. He loved going to concerts, especially Phish. Chris had a smile that could light up a room and was well-known for his signature quick wit. Chris was his own person. He lived a life true to himself and that was his greatest gift to others.
Chris is survived by his father David; his sister Carrie Maille Hickey and her husband Andrew Hickey; his two nieces Maille and Catelyn Hickey; and Leroy, his Sheepadoodle.
Chris also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom loved him dearly and will deeply miss his smile and sense of humor.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 4 pm to 7 pm at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 10am at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish, 374 Stevens Street in Lowell. KINDLY MEET AT THE CHURCH. There will be a private Interment at a future date.
