Christopher McLellan, age 73, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, surrounded by love.
Chris was born on June 23, 1952, to David and Patricia McLellan. He was raised in Denver, Colorado, and graduated from Saint Francis de Sales High School in 1970. He went on to dedicate 21 years of his life to law enforcement, serving with integrity and quiet strength. He retired after working for the City of Thornton and the Sheridan Police Department, where his career spanned patrol, undercover work, detective roles, and ultimately serving as Captain. His work reflected the same values he lived by—protection, fairness, and deep care for others.
Chris was a protector at heart—someone who loved with his whole heart and made those around him feel safe simply by being present. He had a fun sense of humor and enjoyed the simpler things in life, finding meaning in everyday moments and time spent with those he loved. He valued family above all else and was a natural caretaker, always looking out for others. He had a natural charisma and an effortless cool about him, balanced by a kindness that was nonjudgmental, approachable, and always willing to help. People were drawn to him not just for who he was, but for how he made them feel. He was often recognized by his eccentric hats and his full mustache—both as memorable as the man himself. Above all, Chris cherished his children and shared a deep bond with his beloved dog, Sheena, who brought him constant companionship and joy.
Chris is survived by his children, Matthew, Julie, and Christi; his grandchildren, Hayden and Chloe; his uncle, Phil McLellan; his sisters, Shelia, Sheryl, Shauna, and Andrea; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia; his father, David; his grandparents; his brothers-in-law; and many extended family members.
Chris’s life was defined by love, loyalty, and service. He will be deeply missed, especially by his children and sisters. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he protected, supported, and loved so deeply.
“His strength was quiet, his protection constant, and his love unwavering.”
A celebration of life will be held for friends and family.
