It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Allen Schell, affectionately known as Chris, who left us peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Newtown Square. Born on January 13, 1961, in Upper Darby, he was a man whose kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.
Chris was the beloved son of Joan Carol (Rambo) Schell and the late Richard William Schell. His life was enriched by the love and companionship of his devoted wife, Rosemarie (Costagliola) Schell since 1988. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Alyssa M. Schell-Kitchen and her husband, Michael J. Kitchen, and Alexandra "Ally" M. Schell, who will carry on his legacy of love and dedication. Chris's brother, Donald B. Schell and his wife Sharon Meehan Schell, along with his aunt Ruth Benedict and the late Joyce Rambo, also survive him, each having shared in the tapestry of his memorable life.
A proud 1979 graduate of Springfield High School, Chris's thirst for knowledge led him to Williamson Trade College, where he graduated in 1982. He furthered his education at Eastern University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995. Chris's commitment to excellence was evident in his long-standing career with PECO/Exelon, where he dedicated 38 years of service at both Peach Bottom and Limerick facilities.
Chris's interests were as varied as they were passionate. As a softball coach for CYO, high school and tournament teams, he instilled not only a love for the game but also the values of teamwork and perseverance. A classic, vintage, and supercar enthusiast, he was a familiar face at the Radnor Hunt Concourse and Main Line Cars & Coffee events. Known as "Mr. Fix-it," Chris was the quintessential family handyman and problem solver, whose ability to fix anything was only matched by his willingness to help others.
His accomplishments were many, including being a published author and photographer, capturing the beauty of the world through his unique perspective. As a college athlete, he excelled in baseball and football, and his love for sports continued throughout his life as an avid supporter of the Philadelphia Phillies. Chris's skills as a woodworker were remarkable, and he found joy in the simple pleasures of tinkering and creating.
Words fall short of encapsulating a man like Chris, but if one were to try, "handy," "generous," and "kind" would be at the forefront. He was a family man through and through, and his absence will be deeply felt by his loved ones and the community he so positively impacted.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 11th, 2025 from 9 to 11:00am in Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd., Broomall, PA 19008
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his name be made to the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum, 6825 Norwitch Drive, Philadelphia, PA 19153 or at Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum
Christopher Allen Schell's journey through life was one marked by dedication, joy, and an unending desire to make a difference. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on through the countless lives he enriched and the fond memories that will be cherished forever. Chris's story does not end here, for his influence will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Fortunately I was able to re-connect with Chris a few years ago at a Williamson reunion. I was his roommate for 2 1/2 years. we spent a portion of everyday walking the halls and campus together. I don't think
he ever spoke an unkind word which was quite an impressive character trait. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing and my prayers go out to the family. May the peace of Christ comfort you

We didn't know Chris, but know and love his Mom, Joan Schell, our neighbor at Willow Valley. Chris must have been an extraordinary man. May he rest in peace. And may all feel the blessings and grace of having had Chris in their lives. Ellen Harvey and Warner Zipf
