Christopher (Chris) E. Schwartz, 62, of Fort Plain, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2025, with his wife by his side.

Chris was born on August 1, 1963, in Amsterdam, NY, to Charlotte H. Wick Schwartz and Raymond G. Schwartz. His father and two siblings, Sherry A. Lapi and Jeffrey A. Schwartz, predeceased him.

Chris attended Fort Plain Central School and was a lifelong resident of Fort Plain.

On September 20, 1983, he married his high school sweetheart, Diana Mulligan Schwartz. Together, they celebrated nearly 42 years of marriage.

In his free time, Chris enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating on Otsego Lake with his family. He had a talent for fixing just about anything. He could pick up almost any musical instrument and play a song by ear. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandsons, who affectionately called him Papa. They were the light of his life.

Chris is survived by his wife, his mother, his daughter Erica N. Schwartz (Zachary Swift), his grandsons Gregory and Jonathan, his siblings Donald Schwartz, Robin Capece, Jean Davis, and Gary Schwartz, along with several nieces and nephews.

In death, Chris selflessly donated his body to the Albany Medical College Anatomical Gift Program.

At Chris's request, there will be no calling hours.

In memory of Chris, donations can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter.
