Richard D. Jones, Sr., 85, of Brookmans Corners Road, passed away at home early in the evening of September 24, 2025.

He was born on October 12, 1939, in Canajoharie, NY, the son of William Jones and Murial Cramer Dean.

Richard graduated from Fort Plain High School in 1957. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the US Army, where he served for a short time and was transferred to reserve status.

Most recently, he worked as a truck driver at Buanno Trucking of Fort Johnson, NY.

In his spare time, he enjoyed building all kinds of models and boating, especially while towing some water skiers behind him. He was also very proud of his position as an FFA officer.

On December 20, 1979, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Freysbush, he married Donna Orendorff.

Richard was predeceased in death by his parents, Orville and Murial Cramer, Dean William and Ann Jones, Sr.. children Deborah Weaver, Eileen Jones, Richard Jones, Jr., Steven Jones; siblings Bob Jones, William Jones, Jr., and Linda Jones.

Survivors include his wife Donna Jones; on Phillip Jones (Sarah), Marc Jones Sr., Gary Jones (Charlotte), Peter Leonard, Bonnie (Mike) Reuss, Jamie Leonard, his great grandson Aiden Leonard, ehom he raised as his son; siblings Michael Dean, Gail and James Higgins, Diane and Fred Chase, Margie Dillenbeck, and her signifagant other Mike Harrington; many grand children, great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be hosting a celebration of life at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Fort Plain Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
