Christopher Paul "Ashante" Spears

Christopher Paul "Ashante" Spears departed this life on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the age of 68. He was born in New Orleans, La. He was the beloved son of the late Geneva Adams-Spears and the brother of Alton Irvin (Doris), Antonia Jackson, Juliette Vicks, Algy Irvin, Carl Irvin (Velez) and Craig Spears (Brenda).

Christopher is also survived by four brothers, close longtime friend and acquaintance Pamela Brown, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Carrie Sumler, Mother Geneva Adams-Spears, his siblings Juliette Vicks (Bertrand Sr.), Antonia Jackson (Julius), Alton Irvin and sister-in-law Mary Irvin.

Chris brought joy, humor, pride, and determination to everything he did. Chris lived his life with generosity, humor, and a deep love for family. His legacy is one of compassion and integrity, and he leaves behind countless memories that will be treasured forever.

Relatives, friends of the family, pastors, officers, and members of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church are invited to attend the Funeral Service at D.W.
