Christopher David Sprankle

Christopher David Sprankle age 50, of Layton, Utah passed away on December 31, 2023. He was born to Janette Spencer Sprankle and David Floyd Sprankle on November 14, 1973, at Cutler Army Hospital in Fort Devens, Harvard, Massachusetts.  He was the oldest of his two siblings, a brother, Nathan Sprankle and a sister, Ashley Sprankle-Burton.

 

Christopher spent his younger childhood years moving several different places as his father was serving in the United States Army. At two years old Christopher moved to Layton, Utah with his mom and younger brother while his dad was stationed overseas.  After his dad returned to the states, he and his family made the move to FT. McKellen, Alabama in 1977.  Then later the family moved to Fort Bragg, Fayetteville,  North Carolina.  Finally, a final move for him and his family while dad was in the Army was to Dugway Proving Grounds, Utah in 1981. 

 

Christopher was proud to become a big brother again just prior to his tenth birthday in 1983. His little sister, Ashley, was born just 3 days before his birthday.  He loved having a baby sister.  

 

At the age of 12 years old Christopher and his family moved to Kemmerer, Wyoming in February 1985.  This is where they settled as a family of five.  Christopher attended school there and graduated with the Kemmerer High School Senior Class of 1993.  While in attending school in Kemmerer, Christopher participated in sports both through the school and Special Olympics program teams.  He played football, basketball and was also on the swim team.  Christopher made many lifelong friendships while living in Wyoming.  

 

Into his adult life he moved to Ogden, Utah.  He worked for Enable Industries.  This is where he met Laura Montague Sprankle.  The two of them together welcomed a baby girl Diana Crystal Sprankle August 19, 1998.  They married one year later on August 14. 1999.  Then were then later sealed in the LDS temple.  They made their home together in Layton, Utah.

 

Christopher worked a contract environmental services job at Hill Airforce Base through PARC.  He started his career there on August 20, 1998 just one day after his daughter was born.  Christopher did not take many days off of work from his job and even until just days before his passing he was worried about not being at work and did not want to let his team and coworkers down.

 

Christopher's special interests were the love of University of Utah Football, NFL and WWE wrestling. He also loved airplanes and studied their itineraries. He could tell you almost any plane, the type of plane, and the route it would follow at any given time.  His grandfather Clyde Spencer was always amazed of Christopher's recollection of facts usually relating to football or of airplanes and airlines.  Christopher enjoyed spending time with his youngest niece PaisleyAnne and nephew Hudson and his face would light up whenever they would enter the room.

 

Survived by his parents David and Janette Sprankle of Layton, Utah,  brother Nathan Sprankle of Layton, Utah, sister Ashley Sprankle-Burton and husband Darren Burton along with their children Dylan, Taylor, PaisleyAnne and Hudson, of West Haven Utah. Wife Laura Kathleen Sprankle, Layton, Utah, daughter Diana Crystal Sprankle and significant other Michael Quinoveva, of Ogden, Utah. Also survived by several cousins, aunts and uncles. 

 

Family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the University of Utah hospital for the care they provided during his stay there.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family Monday, January 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.at the mortuary .

 

Interment will be held at a later date at Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton.
