Christopher Homer Swyers

Christopher Homer Swyers, age 69, of St. James, Missouri, passed away on January 24, 2026. He was born on September 23, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Loyd and Reia (Manley) Swyers.

Chris spent his life in the construction industry and was a skilled carpenter by trade. He took great pride in creating and building for others, leaving behind not only strong structures but lasting memories of hard work and dedication.

He was known for his super friendly personality and truly never met a stranger. Chris enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, and fishing, and he especially loved listening to what he called his "oldies" rock music from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.

Chris was a devoted father to his daughters: Sabrina Snelson of Rolla; Rebecca Snelson of Gaylord, Michigan; Ayla George of Springfield, Missouri; and Kelly Dollar (Mike) of DeSoto, Missouri. While he was a great father, he was even more proud of being a grandfather. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren and enjoyed countless hours making memories with his grandsons.

He is also survived by his brothers, Tim Swyers (Alicia) of DeSoto, Missouri, and Jeff Swyers of St. James, Missouri; his sister, Tabby Swyers of DeSoto, Missouri; grandchildren Desmond Lane, Isaac, Nikita, Naomi, Barry Jr., Landon, Rosalynn, Makayla, and Makenzie; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Reia Swyers; his sister, Kim Benedick; his granddaughter, Melany Dollar; his niece, Michelle McGowan; and his nephew, Dillion McGowan.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
