Christopher Lee Tanner, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 40.
Christopher was born on May 29, 1984, in Joliet, Illinois the son of Ricky Gene and Brenda Lee (Flanagan) Tanner Sr.
Christopher was known for his infectious sense of humor and his unwavering dedication to family. He was the protector of those he loved, always willing to give the shirt off his back, even during his own struggles. His laughter would light up a room, and his spirit of generosity and kindness made a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. He was like a father figure to his nephew, Bayley, providing guidance and support throughout his life.
A passionate outdoorsman, Christopher found solace in fishing and camping. He cherished the time spent with friends and family, especially the memorable trip to Indiana to celebrate Grace's 9th birthday. Becoming a grandpa was a dream come true for Christopher, and he embraced the role with love and pride.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Grace Tanner, and his precious grandson, Odin Miller, who brought immense joy to his life. Christopher is also survived by his siblings: Jennifer Glenn, Ricky Gene Tanner Jr., and Stephanie Tanner. He shared a special bond with his numerous aunts and uncles. He will be dearly missed by his best friend, Jennifer Hackler-Green, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings, Robert Franklin Tanner and Thomas John Tanner in infancy, and his aunt, Wanda Flanagan. He also lost his maternal grandparents, Johnny and Mildred Flanagan Sr., his paternal grandparents, Neva and Pat Tanner; his cousins, John Stephen Flanagan and David Nelson Jr.; and his aunt, Kris Tanner.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 22, from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will follow at 6:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family in his honor.
