Christopher Thomas Obituary
Christopher L. Thomas of Ithaca, passed away on May 20, 2024, after his renal disease progressed to kidney failure.
Chris was born in Ithaca to Mary and David Thomas. After graduating from Ithaca High School, he attended Cornell University with several of his friends. He took a brief break when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a Wideband Communication Equipment Specialist. Shortly after, he returned to Cornell to complete his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Chris met his future wife Suki Tabor (along with most of her family) at a picnic at Treman State Park. Suki and Chris married in 1999 and had one son, Kevin Thomas. Treman remained a special place throughout their years together.
Throughout his life, Chris used his diverse talents to support, help, and care for others. He provided round the clock in-home care to both parents as they aged and their illnesses progressed. He proudly cared for Kevin throughout the years as a stay-at-home dad. Friends and family could always count on Chris to take part in any project or event, whether it was renovating a room or house, providing tech support, building something, or a sleep over with nieces or nephews.
Chris's sense of humor, as well as his kind and caring nature made him a wonderful friend. While he didn't like being the center of attention, he made get togethers and gatherings fun. He was a thoughtful listener who was able to help people find solutions to their problems. He enjoyed computers, photography, science fiction, guitars, and bread making.
He was predeceased by his parents Mary and David, his mother-in-law Eunice Tabor, and dear friends Pam Duddy and Patrick Leonhardt.
Chris's family would like to thank the staff at Cayuga Medical Center for the incredible care and kindness Chris and the entire family received. To honor Chris's memory, donations can be made to Hospicare and Palliative Services, hospicare.org, or Love Living at Home, lovelivingathome.org. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
