Christopher James Tibbitts, 48, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on May 9, 2025. Born on July 4, 1976, Chris lived life on his own terms-a fierce fighter, and someone who lived every moment with passion, heart, and a smile.
A proud member of the Sac and Fox Nation, Chris carried his heritage with quiet strength and dignity. He attended truck driving school at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska. He worked as a dedicated truck driver for Convoy Systems, where he was respected for his reliability, strong work ethic, and commitment to the road. He was nominated to compete in the Kansas Truck Driving Championships in 2024 and 2025. Off the clock, Chris found freedom and joy riding his beloved Harley Davidson motorcycles-an expression of his adventurous spirit and enduring love for the open road.
Chris is survived by his Grandmother Mary Zoeller, loving mother, Karen Tibbitts; his brother, Anthony Tibbitts, sister-in-law Amy Tibbitts; his sisters, Angelica Tibbitts and Rachael Hedgcoth; his brother-in-law Michael Hedgcoth, and his cherished nieces and nephews: Townsend Tibbitts, Novella Tibbitts, Chase Hurt, Michael Hurt, Austin Hedgcoth, and Evan Hedgcoth. He is also remembered with love by extended family members MaryAnn Godfrey and Ally Stewart of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, along with many friends and relatives whose lives were touched by his warmth, humor, and generosity.
He was previously married to Nicole Schmuecker from 1999 to 2003, and spent many meaningful years from 2016 to 2024 in a loving, long-term relationship, full of travel and adventures with Dee Jewell.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, David M. Tibbitts, and his uncles, Tracey Zoeller and David Zoeller, and Aunt Mary Lynn Zoeller.
A memorial service to honor Chris's life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the American Legion Hall in Parkville, Missouri, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A memorial ride and trucking convoy will follow, celebrating Chris's passion for the road and the brotherhood of riders and drivers he loved so dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) Gospel Circuit Riders # 714, Manhattan, Kansas, an organization that reflects Chris's values and spirit.
To know Chris was to know loyalty, laughter, and a fierce love for family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
