Chun Cha Eckenrode, of Fayetteville, N.C., passed away on Feb. 20, 2024, at UNC Hospital, surrounded by family.
Chun Cha was born in Korea, growing up with her beloved sister and mother. She moved to America in the 1970s to find new opportunities, despite knowing almost no one in a foreign land.
She worked her way up to becoming a true example of the American Dream, owning her own small business and raising two children in Fayetteville, N.C. – Dave and Vicky. She was a feisty, hard-working, and loving mother.
Chun Cha also was a devoted member of the Korean Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville, where she served as a deacon. She will be missed by her friends and family, including her son-in-law, Jeff; daughter-in-law, Katey; and grandchildren, Dani, Jason, Josey, and Parker.
A service is planned for Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Service, 610 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park West, 6701 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville, N.C.
In lieu of a reception, the family is making a donation to her church.
Donations also can be made in Chun Cha’s honor instead of flowers to: SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals (www.secufamilyhouse.org).
