Cidelia Guajardo

Cidelia Cavazos Guajardo, 92, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at home with family. She was born in Concepcion, Texas in Duval County on May 23, 1933, the second oldest of five daughters and one son. She met the love of her life, Corando, at a dance. After he returned from Army service in the Korean war, he proposed to her at an Easter picnic. Then he asked her father for permission to marry her. They were married for 71 years. After her beloved Corando passed away only 11 days earlier, Cidelia said she missed him and could hear him calling to her. Cidelia loved cooking, baking, sewing, reading, growing roses, gardening, projects around her house, and spending time with her family. She spent many years with family enjoying time at their ranch in Duval County. They raised cattle together. She was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always checking to make sure everyone was doing fine and sharing her wisdom.

Cidelia dearly loved her family. She believed in her children's potential and always inspired them to follow their dreams. She encouraged all of her children to work hard and to pursue an education. She believed in higher education, telling her children, all of whom successfully graduated from college, that "no one can take your education away from you." She was a kind woman with a warm heart, sharp mind, and a positive personality.

Cidelia is preceded in death by her husband, Corando Guajardo; parents, Jose Cavazos and Antonia Palacios Cavazos; her sister Pauline Cavazos Duron; and her half-sister, Ofelia Cavazos Canales. She is survived by her son, Richard Guajardo (Adelaida); her daughters, Doris Holloway (Terry), and Norma Muir (Kenneth); her grandchildren, Robert Muir, Sarah Muir, and Ricardo Silva; her brother, Jose Cavazos Jr. (Maria Elena); her sisters, Marie Ramirez, Janie Guerra, Idalia Jaime; and many nieces and nephews.

Interment will be on October 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
