Cindi Jo (Mapes) Njuguna, age 57, of Pittsburg, KS, died on November 3, 2025, at Ascension Via Christi Village surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on March 3, 1968, in Pittsburg, KS, to Billy Joe and Sherri Gaye (Waddle) Mapes. Cindi graduated from Pittsburg High School and attended Pittsburg State University for two years.
Cindi worked as a supervisor for Shields, now Mosaic, where she dedicated her life to helping adults with disabilities. Her work was not just a job, it was a passion and a calling. She also supported the Special Olympics and was known for her compassion and ability to light up any room she entered.
Cindi was a member of Lighthouse Tabernacle Church. Her favorite color was pink, and she loved the movie Beaches. She had a contagious laugh, a funny sense of humor, and an unforgettable presence that brought joy to everyone who knew her. She enjoyed music, crocheting, making jewelry, crafts with her grandkids, and dancing.
She is survived by her two daughters, Ginger Boyce son-in law Anthony Reed of Pittsburg, and Kahlie Worrell and her husband Michael of Pittsburg; and seven grandchildren: Jay'ceon, Olivia, Paige, Hope, Michael Jr., Geneva, Zhanae, and Tre'juan. She also leaves behind an Uncle; Tommy Mapes and several nieces and nephews.
Cindi was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Marshall.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Life Changers Church International, 706 N. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762.
