CINDY COLLIER Obituary

PERRY – Cynthia Lynn "Cindy" Peavy Collier passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025, after an extended illness. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Cross Point Perry. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be followed by the service at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to WROC, Women Reaching Our Community, P. O. Box 438, Perry, GA 31069. Cindy was born on May 28, 1958, and moved to Perry with her family when she was a child. She graduated early from Perry High School in November 1975. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Bennie Collier, two days after her 18th birthday, and they lived in Perry for the duration of their forty-nine years of marriage. Their relationship was built on the foundation of Christ, and it grew stronger as the years passed. She always commented that Bennie was "Still the One" and said she "would follow that man to the moon and back." Many considered Cindy to be "a Proverbs 31" woman, living for Jesus, raising her family, and serving others her whole life. She truly had a servant's heart and always looked for ways to help others. She continuously worked to create a loving and encouraging environment in which to raise her family. Cindy worked in various roles for the Houston County School District and retired as the Secretary/Bookkeeper at Morningside Elementary. She was also the owner of Carrie Lynn's Antiques and was known as a seasoned antique dealer throughout Middle Georgia. Currently an active member of Cross Point Perry, Cindy faithfully worshipped and served the Lord in various roles through the years. From being a secretary at First Baptist Church of Perry, to singing in the choir at Houston Lake Baptist Church, to being a founding member of The Vine, Cindy kept the Lord at the center of everything she did. She was a teacher and leader in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Bible studies for all age groups. Cindy was particularly close to the women in her "Sisters' Club" Bible study group. Cindy poured her heart and soul into people, not only at church, but also in her community. She was a Founding Member and Former President of WROC, Women Reaching Our Community, a faith-based organization offering people "a hand up instead of a hand out," encouraging independence and self-sufficiency among the homeless and others in need. Cindy was also instrumental in opening Re-New, a retail store where donated home goods are sold to raise money to support WROC. Cindy will always be remembered as a woman who deeply loved God and who faithfully devoted her time and energy to serving others. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. "Jake" Peavy and Eugenia "Jeanie" Ryburn; a sister, Sherri Peavy; and a stepbrother, Jerry Ryburn. Left to cherish the memories they made with Cindy are her loving and devoted husband, Bennie B. Collier, Jr. of Perry; her daughter, Jennifer Jones (Brian) of Perry; her sons, Michael Collier (Marie) of Eastman, James Collier (Natalie) of Perry, and Allen Collier (Amber) of Forsyth; her grandchildren Cooper, Eowyn, Amelia, Whitney, Sarabeth, Asa, Alonzo, Adam, Ruth, Alex, and Jonah; her sister, Lisa Peavy O'Neal (O'Malley); her brother-in-law, Tommie Collier (Jane); her sisters-in-law, Carol Norris (Steve), Catherine Rentz, and Caran Sherwood (Don); her stepfather, David Ryburn; and her stepbrothers, Loren Ryburn, and Jeff Ryburn (Theresa); many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family would like to give a special thanks to Heart of Georgia Hospice for their kindness and gentle care of Cindy while she was in their care. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
