DYER CHAPEL-Jane Lucinda "Cindy" Gentry 99 of Cookeville , died Saturday, December 13, 2025 at NHC of Cookeville following a lengthy illness. She was born March 6 , 1926 in Putnam County, Tennessee.
She was a graduate of Cookeville Central High School.
Her faith in God was important to her, she was a member of Boma First of God for over 40 years. She hardly missed a Sunday and helped with church functions until failing health.
Her love of family and friends was always evident; she had a loving and generous spirit. She loved spending time with family and friends especially the grand and great grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking meals and having all the family together. She was able to drive her car well into her nineties and enjoyed going to yard sales.
She leaves a son and daughter-in-law Phil and Connie Gentry of Baxter, granddaughters Tracey (James) Harney of Arrington, TN, Amanda (David) Allison of Baxter, great grandchildren Ella Jane Allison, Isabel Allison, Carvell Harney and Amelia Harney.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Ima Grimes Teeter, her husband Howard Odell Gentry who passed away on December 13, 1994 and brother and sister-in-law Charles and Lorelle Teeter, sister and brother-in-law Doris and Bobby Vickers.
A funeral service for Cindy will be Saturday, 2 PM December 20 at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home 798 South Willow Avenue Cookeville, Tennessee. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Tim Sharp will officiate
The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.
Active Pallbearers will be James Harney, Carvell Harney, David Allison, John Vickers, Tyler Fletcher and Austin Fletcher.
