Jose Cipriano Olvera, 88, of Olton, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025, at his home. A Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2025, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father Alex Ambrose officiating. Interment will follow at Olton Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.

Cipriano was born September 26, 1936, in Santa Maria Del Rio, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Audon and Trinidad (Gonzales) Olvera. He moved to Olton from Houston and had been a resident for more than 39 years. On November 11, 1981, he married the love of his life, Elvia Samaniego.

A hard worker all his life, Cipriano worked as a truck driver for West Trucking for over 23 years. He loved playing the guitar and shared his talent for many years as a member of the church band. Known for his warm personality and great sense of humor, he never met a stranger. He enjoyed working in people's yards, staying busy, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings; two sons, and a son-in-law.

Survivors include his wife, Elvia Olvera of Olton; two sons, Humberto Olvera and wife Celia of Hale Center, and Guadalupe Olvera of Mission; four daughters, Alicia Gregorcyk of Houston, Belen Olvera of Plainview, Amalia Olvera Gonzales of Mission, and Rosalinda Olvera of Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, one brother, Francisco Olvera of Houston and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
