Ciro Buonocore, of Branford, passed away Tuesday while at Autumn Lake rehab in Madison. He was the beloved husband of the late Rosemarie Salperto Buonocore. Ciro was born in New Haven on November 18, 1932, a son of the late Giacomo and Maria Buonocore. He grew up in the well known Morris Cove area of New Haven, and had also spent some time in the U. S. Army as a young man as well. He married Rosemarie in 1958 and later went on to buy their long-term home in Branford. He worked as a liquor salesman for many years prior to his retirement, but his true passion was always being out on the water, and had owned many boats throughout the years. He was a member of the APBA and was an avid hydroplane racer, as well as a longtime and very active member of the Branford Yacht Club. He is survived by his daughter Loren Curran of Guilford, his grandchildren, Caleigh Curran of Medford, MA and Jack Curran of Guilford, his sister Resty Melaccio of North Branford and his brother Louis Buonocore of Indiana. He was predeceased by his oldest sister, Christine Miller.
Visiting hours are Monday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 10:00 in St. John Bosco Parish at St. Therese Church, 105 Leetes Island Road, Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
