Claire E. Crispin

It is with deep sadness that the family of Claire E. Crispin (nee Simon) announces her passing this past Sunday, September 21, 2025 in Media, PA. She was 82 years old.
Claire was born on August 15, 1943 in Glenolden, Pennsylvania where she grew up on Gardner Avenue. She attended St. Georges Elementary School where he met her future husband John in the first grade. The following year Claire moved to the newly built Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School. As a sophomore at Notre Dame High School (Class of 1962), she reunited with John when they recognized each other at Rex's Golfing Range in Glenolden, PA. They started dating soon after. Four years later they married, on September 21, 1963.
Claire was a happy soul who loved cooking, spending time with family and friends, and anything creative. The holidays were an especially joyous time as no one decorated a house for Christmas the way she did. But the most important thing she took pride in was being a wife and mother. She was a den mother for cub scout pack 515, a block parent, and volunteered for many tasks at Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School. Her house was always welcome to the neighborhood kids. She was a friendly and outgoing woman who could easily make conversation with anyone. In later years she went on to become an Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. Her friendly and outgoing personality made her a natural fit.
Claire retired to Lewes, DE with her husband John. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was especially fond of Sundays with her family.
Claire was the daughter of George Simon and Rena Simon (nee McVey) of Glenolden, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband John and her brother Sam. She is survived by her sons John IV (Bela), Joseph (Melissa), and Michael (Annette) and her seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Claire is also survived by her sister Barbara Wurth (nee Simon).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, South Avenue, Secane. Followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Entombment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cavanagh Funeral Home 301 Chester Pike, Norwood Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org would be appreciated.
