Clara Emogene Airhart passed peacefully at home on March 28,2024, surrounded by family at the age of 92. She was born on January 7, 1932, in Plainview, Louisiana and grew up in the area. She met her future husband, Ray Airhart, while riding tricycles together. They were married on August 30, 1947, when she was only 15 years old. She moved to Pasadena, Texas, in 1950 with her young family when Ray found work with the City of Pasadena. She was a Charter Member of Thomas Avenue Baptist Church and later an active member of First Baptist Pasadena where she sang in the choir. In 1987, Ray and Emogene returned home to Hornbeck Louisiana and enjoyed an active retirement. She was a beautician for most of her life and only retired for good a few years ago at the age of 88. She enjoyed mission trips, working at Dry Creek and travel in general. She was a member of Prewitt's Chapel Baptist Church in Hornbeck.
Emogene was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Claude Ray Airhart; daughter Barbara Kay Airhart; parents, Aris and Erma Brown and brother, Edwin Brown.
She is survived by : son, Donnie and wife Sharon of Pasadena, TX; daughter, Sheryl Gonzales and husband Arturo of Trinity, AL; son, Ricky and wife Michelle of Mobile, AL; sister, Genell Leach of Leesville, LA; brother, Ronald Brown and wife Nancy of Hornbeck, LA. She had 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Clara Emogene Airhart will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 11:00AM at Prewitts Chapel with Bro. Buddy Airhart and Bro. Wayne Chance officiating. Burial will be at Prewitts Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Jeane's Funeral Service.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Prewitts Chapel from 5:00PM until time of service on Wednesday.
Pallbearers: Daniel Airhart, Brian Airhart, Kevin Brown, Paul Wanjura, Trent Airhart, Toby Airhart, and Austin Sanders
Honorary pallbearers: Ronald Brown and Rob Brown
