Clara Louise Duntz

Clara Louise Duntz, age 80, of Des Moines, Iowa, went into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 27th, 2022 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born April 7, 1942 in Iowa City, Iowa to Bernhardt 'Bertie' Leroy and Georgia Faye (Belcher) Diehm. The family included 11 sisters and brothers.
Clara grew up in Grinnell, Iowa attending school there. Later she moved to Newton, Iowa being employed at Dunlap's Manufacturing Company, and later at Skiff Memorial Hospital. Once she settled in Des Moines employment was through the Des Moines Public Schools till retirement. This is where she and her husband, Roland 'Rocky' David Duntz have spent the last 31 years.
Let it be known that Clara & Rocky have been very active members in their church homes taking that responsibility very seriously. Initially they were members of New Testament Church and presently involved with First Baptist Church on East 38th Street.
Clara is survived by siblings, Betty O'Halleran, Malcom, Iowa, Carol Rodgers, Grinnell, Iowa, Joe (Dorinda) Diehm, Newton, Iowa, Diane (Kenneth) Mortenson, Oskaloosa, Iowa, Debra Howard, Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Daniel (Sheila) Diehm, Grinnell, Iowa.
Clara is survived by three daughters of her union to Robert Hawkins who preceded her in death. The girls include, Vicki (Hawkins) Ruby, Oskaloosa, Iowa, Cindy (Jeff) Paschka, Mitchellville, Iowa, and Connie (Danny) Hodges, Blairsburg, Iowa.
Clara is survived by her five step children through marriage to Rocky Duntz. These include, Chad David Stover, Matthew Dillon (Sandy) Duntz, Mark Andrew (Alicia) Duntz, and Marcy Lynn Duntz.
Grandchildren that survive include, Aaron Clingan, Zachery (Jess) Clingan, Holly (Joshua) Arnold, Kylie (Daniel) Kern, Shawna (Joe) Sandhoff, Amy (Cory) Orr, Christy (Todd) Friedman, Lacey (Jon) Randolph, step grandchildren, Ethan, Dylan, DJ, Brantley, Victoria, Kinsey, Emma, Christian, and Johna.
Great grandchildren include, Jack, Aiden, Isabella, Treyce, Carter, Noah, Jack, Sawyer, Cade, Bristol, Emma, Evelyn, Nyla, Wes, Sady, Mabel, Brody, Teagan, and Payton.
Preceding her in death was first husband, Robert L. Hawkins, parents, Bertie and Georgia, siblings, Linda Diehm, Patricia Mauskemo, Jake Diehm, Bertie Diehm, many brothers & sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and stepson, Brad Devere Stover.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Grandview Park Funeral Home, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50317, with the family greeting friends from 5:00pm till 7:00pm. Funeral services will be Friday, June 3, 2022, 10:00am at First Baptist Church, 3020 E. 38th Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50317. A lunch will follow services in the church hall, with family and friends meeting at Newton Union Cemetery, 1:30pm for burial.
