CORDELE,GA - Clara B. Lanier, age 85, of Cordele, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Funeral Services will be held at Noon, Monday March, 3, 2025, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Rose Hill Cemetery after the service. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. They will also visit an hour before the service on Monday. It is suggested that everyone wear green, which was Clara's favorite color. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Clara was born in Abbeville, Georgia to the late Edker Dunagan, Sr. and the late Vera Turk. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Lanier, Jr.; her siblings: Henry Dunagan, Monroe Dunagan, Geraldine Meredith, Vera Mae Hilliard, Robert Dunagan, Elizabeth Phillips, and Edker Richardson, Jr.; a granddaughter, Lexi Bringman; and her sons-in-law: Leslie Bringman and Mike Wester.
During her working years, she worked in quality control at the shirt factory in Rochelle, Georgia. Clara loved the color green, Wrigley's spearmint gum, eating fish, word search puzzles, news shows, and game shows. She was a proud member of Northern Heights Baptist Church, liked attending gospel sings, enjoyed reading her Bible, and loved visiting the elderly when her health permitted. Her biggest joys in life were her family; she took great pleasure in looking after her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Sherry Gwen Wester of Chapel Hill, TN, George (Teresa) Lanier III of Rochelle, Ga., and Donna Bringman of Cordele; her grandchildren: Elizabeth (Corey) Taylor of Chapel Hill, Kenneth Wester of Tunnel Hill, Ga., Linley (Austin) Hatten of Wilsonville, Al., and Charity Bringman of Cordele; and her great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Hargus, Hailey Taylor, Ella Hatten, and Shawn Hatten.
