Clara Virginia Lashley, 87, of Schellsburg, died on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Somerset Healthcare and Rehab. She was born on August 16, 1938 in Wilmington, DE, a daughter of the late Bryant H. and Emma F. (Van Den Huvdl) McCranie. On July 29, 1957 in Winchester, VA she married Samuel C. Lashley Sr. and he survives along with six sons: Samuel C. Lashley Jr. and wife Mary of Bedford, Richard B. Lashley and wife Chanin of Everett, Lee J. Lashley and wife Karen of Bedford, Carl B. Lashley and wife Jen of Pittsburgh, Mark D. Lashley and wife Teenie of Bedford, and Dale R. Lashley and wife Lisa of York; ten grandchildren: Kelly, Steven, Sarah, Martina, Richelle, Logan, Alexis, Jordan, Chelsea, and Justin; four step-grandchildren: Levi, Tyler, Andrew, and Samantha; ten great-grandchildren: Kal, Kenzleigh, Blaire, Scarlett, Paul, Hudson, Emmitt, Brystol, Jensyn, and Briella; one sister, Mina Root widow of Darrall of Chiefland, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melinda, two brothers: George and Reme McCranie; and a sister, Hanna Snyder and husband Bill.
Clara grew up and graduated from high school in Boca Grande, FL. She met her husband Sam while working at the Bedford Springs Hotel and together they were owners of Lashley Custom Mufflers in Bedford. She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and visiting with friends at McDonalds, Wendys, and Sunday evenings at Bestway Pizza.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements by the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford. Those wishing can make memorial contributions in Clara’s name to the Shawnee Valley Volunteer Fire Dept. P.O. Box 106 Schellsburg, PA 15559.
