Clara White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ferreira Funeral Services - Lake City on Mar. 18, 2026.
Clara Ruth May White, age 83, went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2026, in the comfort of her home and in the presence of her loving son. She was born on December 31, 1942, in Horseheads, New York, to the late Leland and Bertha May. Throughout her life, Clara held many jobs, but one of her most memorable experiences was traveling across the country with her husband as long-distance semi-truck drivers. Together, they hauled explosives to army bases as well as produce to destinations across the United States. Clara was a woman of strong faith and was a member of a Methodist church. She loved camping, crocheting, and spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed range shooting and traveling with her son to competitions in New Mexico, Georgia, and South Carolina, where Matthew proudly won many ribbons. As a young woman, Clara had a deep love for horses. Her sister fondly remembered Clara riding her horses to visit and even training them to perform special prancing and kneeling poses. Clara will be forever remembered for her devotion to her son and extended family, her sense of humor, wit, honesty, and her deep love of God and life. Clara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Oscar White; an infant son; and her sister, Jane.

Clara is survived by her devoted son, Matthew White; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sisters, Marion Reynolds of Florida, Betty Johnson of Horseheads, New York, Loretta Sonderacker of North Carolina, and Leila White of Montana.

Clara 's family will cherish her memory and celebrate her life privately. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services, Lake City, FL. 386-752-1234. Visit www.ferreirafuneralservices.com to sign the family's guest book.
