Obituary for Clarence Rashad Davis**
*January 13, 1974 - December 1, 2024*
Clarence Rashad Davis was born on January 13, 1974, in Newark, New Jersey, to Clarence and Gracie Davis. He grew up in the Weeqhuahic neighborhood of Newark on Harding Terrace. He spent most of his formidable years in Newark but eventually relocated to Marion, South Carolina in his early teens. He was educated in the Newark school system and received his associate's degree from Full Sail University in Music Production.
At an early age he developed a passion for music, particularly hip hop, and it became a significant part of his identity. He was a self-proclaimed graffiti artist and a B-Boy. As a young man he learned the value of hard work and developed a great work ethic.
Clarence's life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family and a passion for music that resonated deeply within him. He never met a stranger and was warm and giving. He believed in reaching back to the younger generation to pass down the wealth of knowledge he was given. His heart was as big as the nights sky and if he loved you, he made sure you knew it. Clarence was known for his kind heart and generous spirit. He was the embodiment of loyalty, honesty, and care. There was no limit to what he would do for those he loved, and he made it a point to express his affection every single day. He had a knack for touching the lives of everyone who crossed his path, leaving an indelible mark in their hearts.
In 2009 he met his wife through poetry. They married on January 12, 2013, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Their marriage of 11 years was a testament to their commitment, love and dedication to each other. In their 15 years together, they created a loving home filled with laughter and joy, nurturing a family that spanned generations.
Through the years he returned to Newark, but he never let the grass grow under his feet too long eventually living in New York, Dallas, Atlanta, Greensboro and finally settling in Houston.
Clarence loved attending concerts and events, where he would immerse himself in the rhythm and lyrics that spoke to his soul. His love for music served as a bridge connecting him to his grandchildren, as he often attended their events, cheering them on and creating lasting memories together. Clarence was dedicated to being the best version of himself for not just his grandchildren but for the entire next generation of his extended family.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Gracie Davis, his stepson James Smith, his grandparents; Rev. Hugo and Mrs. Virginia Stanley, and Mr. Lucian and Mrs. Rosa Lee Stanley, his uncles; Joseph B. Stanley (JB), William H Stanley (Stan), Donnie Stanley, Lee Curtis "Curt" Sellers, Thomas Earl Davis, Robert Davis, Levon Stanley and Willie James Stanley, his maternal aunt Evelyn Jackson Hearst His cousins Kelvin "Muk" Stanley and Bilquanetta Stanley
Clarence is survived by his beloved wife, LaToye, and their cherished children: Bridgette and Kendall Melancon; NaToiya Manley and John Moore; their adored grandchildren: Nadiya Manley, Nasir Manley, Nya McGinnis, Kayden Melancon, Jayson Melancon, and Bryson Melancon. He also leaves behind a large extended family who held him dearly: Evelyn Stanley, Liz Stanley, Ella Mae Sellers, Patricia Sessions, Don and Alicia Stanley, Lula Davis, Mattie Davis, Margie Stanley, Cynthia Stanley, Kurtis Sellers, Rodney Stanley, Kedrick Sellers, Nasir Sellers, Dorian Sellers, Shawn Stanley, Sabrina Stanley, Rosevelt and LaTanya Watson, Dorian and Wacoa Scott, and countless others who loved him deeply.
As we bid farewell to Clarence Rashad Davis, let us remember him not just for the years he lived but for the love he shared, the lives he changed, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
The family will gather at 9801 Dulcimer ST Unit A Houston TX 77051 after the service. We invite all those whose lives were touched by Clarence to join us in celebrating a man who truly was made different-a man whose love and legacy will continue to resonate in our hearts forever.
