CLARENCE E. DAWSON, 99, of Weirton, WV, passed Monday June 17, 2024 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1925 in Wick, Tyler County, WV, son of the late George E. and Stella Lewin Dawson. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Gladys Hanlin Dawson (2008); brothers, Adrian, Guy, Bernard, Raymond, and Kenneth Dawson; sisters, Phyllis Lowther, Francis Dawson, Margaret Monroe, Violet Stackhouse, Esta Dillion, and Evelyn Ramsey.
Clarence was a member of Weirton Heights Church of Christ. He retired from the Blooming Mill of Weirton Steel Corporation and was a member of Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. Clarence's favorite hobby was his vegetable garden, especially his beloved tomato plants.
He is survived by sons, Randall Dawson (Dorothy) of New Manchester, WV, Robert Dawson (Alicia) of Weirton, WV, and Roger Dawson of Hurricane, WV; daughter, Carol Hostina of Toronto, OH; grandchildren, Dustin Dawson, Donovan Dawson (Valerie), Erin Dawson, Lindsey Durst (Josh), and Brandi Dixon; great-grandchildren, Karley, Kevin, Grant, Aidan, Olivia, and Maxwell; brother, Lawrence Dawson of Brunswick, GA; and sister, Norma Jean Martin of Newport, OH.
Visitation will take place Friday June 21, from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM at Weirton Heights Church of Christ, 3169 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton, WV, with Evangelist Steve Smithbauer presiding. Interment will take place at New Cumberland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton, WV.
Clarence's family wishes to thank the wonderful nursing staff of Weirton Medical Center's 5th and 8th floors and Dr. Cowher for their excellent care of Clarence.
