Clarence “Glenn” Gabriel age 68, passed away, unexpectedly, on February 17, 2025. He was born on October 7, 1956, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Johnny and Lorraine Gabriel. He was a member of the Phillippi Primitive Baptist Church. He wore many hats throughout his journey. Glenn was a Military Veteran. He served in the United States Army, and he also served in the United States Air Force. He favored the Air Force and served until being Honorably Discharged. He went to Idaho State University where he graduated and received the degree of Bachelor of Arts Sociology . He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He received the Certificate of Recognition of service during the period of the Cold War (2 September 1945 – 26 December 1991) in promoting peace and stability for this Nation. He was a member of the Rockwood Industrial Development Board and a graduate of the Roane County Leadership Program. He was a Graduate of the Electrical Apprenticeship program. He became a Notary Public member for the State of Tennessee. He was part of a team who read the books for the Board of Education for removal of inappropriate materials . He received an honorary quilt from Rockwood Quilt Group as part of the Quilts of Valor, an organization dedicated to making and donating quilts to veterans in recognition for their service. He was the Vice President of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Roane County Branch 5626. He was a member of the Democratic Party. He was a member of the Harriman Junction Lodge 103. He participated in his daughter’s plays and was involved in many more activities of the community. He worked at UCOR, TVA, the Rockwood Community Center and at the Roane County Courthouse. He was deeply involved in politics and made it a point to teach everyone what was going on in our community. He was a mentor to the young adults. He loved to grill, used his smoker and he helped his wife cook in the kitchen. In 2009, he met Mae Eskridge at TVA Watts Bar Nuclear Plant, and he instantly became a blended family man, as their love grew, they married. He never said stepchildren and step grandchildren, he felt very proud to have even more family to love and to have many to love him back. One hat that he wore continuously all day and every day is the one that shows his love, he loved him some Mae and she loves her some Glenn!

 

He was preceded in death by his parents Johnny Gabriel Jr. and Lorraine Gabriel.

 

He leaves many special moments and memories to be cherished to his loving and devoted wife, Mae Eskridge Gabriel. Sons, Devonte Gabriel (Jasmine) and Sean Gabriel all of Katy, Texas;

 

Bonus children, April Hill (James) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Barbara Moore (Kenneth) of Harriman, Tennessee, Ralph Davidson, Jr. of Rockwood, Tennessee, Richard Davidson of Ashland, Kentucky and Elizabeth Davidson of Jefferson City, Tennessee.

 

Grandchildren: Omari and Amir Gabriel of Katy, Texas; Bonus grandchildren (raised as his children) Aryia Stover of Georgia, Ri’brazsha Davidson, Braylynn Davidson, Jayden Davidson, Nadean Davidson all of Rockwood, Tennessee

 

Sisters: Clara Gedric, Lois Lee (Ray), Sharon Harrell (Charles) all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Melissa Brown of Tijeras, New Mexico

 

Bonus sisters: Mary Kilgo of Rockwood, Tennessee

 

Brothers: Walter Gabriel (Leah) of Dallas, Texas, Johnny Gabriel III (Janice) of Phoenix, Arizona, Lonnie Gabriel (Stacie) of Leesville, Louisiana and Charles Gabriel (Tabitha) of Marietta, Georgia

 

Bonus brother: Roy Eskridge of Rockwood, Tennessee

 

Over fifty Grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends including Scott Trew, William Henley, and too MANY others to name.

Visitation service will be held on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 pm ET at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. Funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm ET. Graveside and interment services will he held on Monday, March 3rd, 2025, at 12:30 pm ET in the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Clarence Glenn Gabriel.
