Clarence Leffler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home on Nov. 26, 2025.
Clarence "Ken" Leffler, age 94 of Dodgeville, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2024, surrounded by family at Edenbrook Nursing Home in Platteville. Ken was born on December 16, 1929, in Dodgeville the only child of Clarence and Rhoda (Torgenson) Leffler.
He graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1947, and the University of Madison in 1951 with a degree in business. After he graduated, he worked as a bookkeeper at Studebaker in Indiana until the time it closed. In 1958, he started his career at Dodgeville State Bank and worked there until 1994.
He married Betty Theobald-Brue on May 17, 1969, becoming a second father figure to Betty's two daughters.
He was a life-long member of Grace Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Masons. He loved to travel with Betty and had a knack for knowing all the streets and highways to any destination without the use of an actual map. He had a boat and loved to waterski-rain or shine. He'd say, "It never rains on the Mississippi." In the winter, he loved to snowmobile and ski-both downhill and cross-country. He absolutely loved to sing, showcasing his talent in various barbershop quartets, church choirs, and as a soloist. Ken loved meeting up with his buddies for coffee. It was the best way for him to start his day, with his best friend Russell Peterson acting as his personal chauffeur each time they went. Ken also had a terrific sense of humor, often responding quickly with witty remarks in what would otherwise be normal conversations.
Ken will always be remembered for taking time to talk to and learn something about each person he met, making sure everyone felt special and seen.
Ken is survived by his daughters Carol (Bill) Polkinghorn of Montfort and Sandra Foster of Barneveld; six grandchildren: Ray (fiancée Ellie Marden) Polkinghorn, Tom Polkinghorn, David (Deb) Polkinghorn, Katie (Aaron) Sedbrook, Andy (Natcha) Polkinghorn, and Arron Foster; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
Ken is preceded in death by his wife Betty and his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, Dodgeville. Friends may call at the church beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will commence at Eastside Cemetery following the luncheon with Pastor Mark Williamson presiding. The Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Dodgeville, is serving the family.
