Clarence Leonard Lorey, 98, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025. He was born on February 6, 1927 to the late Clarence and Leona Lorey. Leonard graduated from Minerva High School in June 1945. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS WASP Aircraft Carrier. Leonard was a resident of New Franklin, Ohio for 73 years. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Interior Systems Local Union #509. His occupation speciality was flooring installation and cabinetry. Leonard was a member of Elliott Lodge #514 F&AM since April 7, 1958 and received his 50 year pin from the Clinton Lodge #47 F&AM. He had a passion for gardening, woodworking, antique restoration, and enjoyed big band music. Preceded in death by his wife, Carol Lorey; stepchildren, Jim Kepner and Brad Fost. Leonard is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Vilsack (Randy Johnson) and Valerie (Robert) Valentine; stepdaughter, Peggy Fost; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn Henninger and Roger (Cindy) Lorey; along with other relatives and friends. A committal service with military honors for family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth at 12 Noon with Rev. Don Richards officiating.
