Susan Denise Lorey, a beloved soul who touched many lives with her compassion and vibrant spirit, was born on June 18, 1952, in Oklahoma City to Travis and Faye Burgess. She peacefully passed away surrounded by her family and love in her home on July 30, 2024.
Susan dedicated her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse, working in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, and dialysis centers. Her passion for teaching led her to inspire future healthcare workers during her tenure at Kiamichi from 1989 to 2014.
In July 1977, Susan's love story began when she met Smitty Lorey, whom she married on December 10, 1977. She is survived by her devoted husband, Smitty Lorey; her daughters, Jennifer Adams and Christi Lorey; her son, Garri Lorey, and his wife, Veronica Lorey; her granddaughters, Madilynn Jacobson and Elyzea Brown; and her grandsons, Dillion Braudrick, Dawson Braudrick, Jonathan Braudrick, Jacen Lorey, Ethan Lorey, Garrett Lorey, and Jalyn Brown.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Faye Burgess, and her brother, Mike Burgess. She is also survived by her brother, Rick Burgess, and his wife, Becky Burgess, her uncle, Jim Tompkins along with many nieces and nephews whom she cherished dearly.
A celebration of Susan's life will take place on Sunday, August 4, at 1 pm at Brown's Funeral Home chapel in Durant with Chaplain Don Fentem officiating.
