He is survived by his son, Robert Steve Melton of Tucson, Arizona, a grand-daughter, Siblings, Barbara Sue Daniel of Somerset, Kentucky, Roger (& Judy) Melton of New Castle, Indiana, Jerry (& Anita) Melton of Burkesville, Kentucky, Junior (& Debbie) Melton of Pall Mall, Tennessee, Jeffrey (& Patty) Melton of New Castle, Indiana, Tony Melton of Albany, Kentucky, and Larry (& Michelle) Melton of Xenia, Ohio, along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
The Funeral Service was conducted on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home of Albany, Kentucky, with Bro. Melvin Daniel, and Bro. Donald McGill officiating. Casket bearers were Roger Melton, Junior Melton, Tony Melton, Chad Melton, Jerry Melton, and Larry Melton. Burial was in the Rose of Sharon Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky.
Campbell-New Funeral Home in Albany, Kentucky was honored to be in charge of arrangements.

My heart is crushed hearing this. Steve and I were coworkers for years. I ended up adopting him as my other dad. We loved to go for breakfast and crack jokes. When he had his lung transplant I was with him almost daily in the hospital. His tenacity to beat the doctors expectations has inspired me to this day. He will be missed terribly. My condolences to his family and Bobby. I love and miss you friend.
