Clarence Roscoe Pectol passed away early in the morning on May 31, 2024 in Hurricane, Utah. Clarence “Ross” was the 6th of 7 children born to James Alden Pectol and Laretta Armstrong Pectol on January 11, 1936. He grew up in St. George where he attended Dixie High and Dixie College.
Clarence was in the National Guard as well as drafted in the Army where he met Virginia Ann Kotowski. They spent a brief time together in Massachusetts where Virgina was from, then continued their relationship by writing to each other for 2 years before they were married in 1962. The day after they were married Clarence and Virginia headed to Hurricane Utah, where they lived the rest of their lives.
Clarence and Virgina were married for 58 years and had 3 sons. Mark, Robert, and Scot Pectol. Clarence was a general building contractor in Southern Utah. He built homes, poured concrete sidewalks, and curbs, and even built bridges and water tanks. Clarence created an opportunity for all 3 of his sons to work with him side by side.
Clarence enjoyed giving his time and his skills to anyone in need. He was always happy to help at any opportunity to provide service to members of the community or church who were in need. Clarence enjoyed being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and of his many callings, being a primary teacher was his favorite. He would often make pine remembrance boxes for the kids in his primary class for Christmas.
Clarence is survived by his 3 sons, 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Clarence was a great man with a small body, an infectious laugh, a big smile, and a huge heart. He will be missed!
