Clarence Sooby Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dunn-Givnish Funeral Home on Oct. 21, 2024.
Clarence William Sooby, affectionately known as "Boots" to all who knew him, of Langhorne, PA, passed away on October 14, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. He was 82 years old. Born in Wilkes Barre on July 5, 1942, he was the son of the late Clarence George and Esther (Wills) Sooby. He was a proud graduate of Delhaas High School, Class of 1960, in Bristol, PA.
Boots and his loving wife, Judith (Amsel) Sooby were blessed to have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this past May 4th. In addition to Judy, Boots leaves behind his sons, Michael J. Sooby (wife, Judy) and William C. Sooby (wife, Amy); his dear grandchildren – Cameron, Maria, and Michael Sooby, and his sister, Lorraine Marconi (husband, Dave).
Boots was a career truck driver. Notably, he was a member of Teamsters, Local 470 at McHugh Brothers, worked for Better Materials Corp. as a heavy equipment operator, and was an owner and operator of a dump truck business. But at the end of the day, he came home to his favorite role, that of a devoted husband and father. Spending time and providing for his family was his priority. Over his lifetime, he developed a love for cars which ranged from cruising in his hot rod and taking meticulous care of his 1951 Classic Ford to attending car shows, watching Nascar, and actually participating in auto races. Especially in retirement, he loved to take Judy on long drives to anywhere and everywhere for an entire day. Likewise, he developed a love for cooking, which Judy greatly appreciated, and a fantastic green thumb in the garden. Known for his larger-than-life personality, Boots was infamous for striking up a conversation wherever he went! It goes without saying that he made an impact on so many lives...he will be eternally loved and missed by all.
Family and friends are invited to Boots' Life Celebration on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 10:30am-12:30pm at Dunn-Givnish Funeral Home, 378 South Bellevue Avenue, Langhorne, PA 19047. His Memorial Service will follow at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests gifts in Boots' memory be made to the American Lung Association for cancer research - 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601 (www.lung.org)

I have just heard of the passing of "Boots". My condolences to the family and friends. I worked several years with him at Better Materials ( Hanson Aggregates ). He was a great guy and neighbor. Rest well my friend.

I remember our times growing up as cousins. We spent a lot of time together as family with Boots, his sister Lorraine and my sister Doreen. Had a lot of fun time together. Miss you.

Hey Mrs. Sooby, Mike and Bill....so sorry to hear about Mr. Sooby. I have many fond memories of him. Always a funny guy when I´d be over your house....he took us camping to KOA and used to drive his car no-hands by just using his knee. I didn´t know his passion for cars until reading this, now it all makes sense! I also remember the gardens - I have to assume he influenced my parents or vice versa but both were impressive at gardening!!! I won´t be in the area on Saturday otherwise I´d stop by. Thinking of you guys, best wishes, "Boots" was a great guy!
