It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Clarence Hill Willis, who left this world on September 6, 2025, in Augusta, Georgia, on his 76th birthday. Born on September 27, 1949, in Columbia County, Georgia, Clarence was a lifelong resident of the area, whose spirit will forever be remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Clarence dedicated many years of his life as a retired concrete finisher—a profession that not only showcased his remarkable craftsmanship but also his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. His hands shaped not only beautiful structures but also the lives of family and friends who fondly recall the stories and laughter shared during those times.
He was a loving husband to D. Genny Willis, whose companionship he cherished deeply throughout their journey together. Clarence was also a devoted stepfather to Porsche (Leon) Burnett and Leon R. (Sharon) Donaldson, Jr., nurturing a bond with them that transcended the title of stepchild, creating a family built on love and support.
Clarence was one of six siblings who played important roles in his life. His cherished sisters, Bobby Ann Phillips, Bonita (Donald) and Loretta (Rodger) Humphrey-Tucker, along with his brothers Floyd and Rodney Humphrey, were a source of joy and laughter, contributing to a rich family narrative that will continue to live on through the memories they created together.
He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Virginia Humphrey, whose nurturing spirit shaped the foundation of the man he became. Her wisdom and love served as guiding principles throughout his life.
Friends and family alike are invited to celebrate Clarence’s life and legacy at a viewing to be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home, located at 314-A Laney Walker Blvd Ext., Augusta, GA 30901.
