Claretta Easterling transitioned to her eternal rest on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at AccentCare Inpatient Hospice Center in Baltimore, MD, due to complications from COPD.

Claretta was born in Manhattan, New York to parents Eugenia Maybank and James Lilly and raised in Harlem.

In 1959, Claretta married her childhood sweetheart, Thomas Easterling, in New York. From their 55-year union, they were blessed with three (3) children – Lori Ann, James Madison, and Joseph Easterling. Claretta and Thomas raised their beautiful family in Willingboro, N.J.

Claretta was employed by Haddon House Foods in New Jersey as an Account Assistant until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting beautiful items, especially baby clothes, crocheting, and drawing sketches.

She leaves to mourn in passing her three children Lori (Maryland), James (daughter-in-law Tania – Texas), and Joseph (New Jersey); her granddaughter Madison (Texas); two (2) sisterin-laws Marlis (Germany) and Delores (brother-in-law Morrel – New Jersey); a host of loving relatives, and her dear friends Terri Siegel and Julie French.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to caregiver Constance “Connie” Simms for her compassionate care, and the caring sta_ (Nurse Cecelia and Nurses Aid Grace, Chaplain Wendy) at Amedisys Hospice Care of Largo, Maryland.

The family has asked to respect the wish for a private memorial. Claretta will be laid to rest at Lakeview Memorial Park in New Jersey.
