Clarice Marie Boomgaarden, age 93, of Clearbrook, MN, passed away on January 22, 2025, at Cornerstone Residence in Bagley, MN. She was born on August 6, 1931, to Calvin and Mary (Hart) Ames in Ball Club, MN.
Services will be held on Friday, February 7th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Clearbrook, MN, with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be held at the Elim Lutheran Brethren Cemetery in Clearbrook, MN. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
Clarice grew up in Nary, MN. She attended the Nary School until 8th grade, and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1949. On December 23,1952, she married the love of her life Jacob Boomgaarden, who claimed that "Clarice had the kindest, sky-blue eyes he'd ever seen."
After military stops in Oklahoma and California, Clarice returned to Bemidji for the birth of her daughter Diane in 1954, (while Jacob was still serving in Korea). Once Jacob returned to the U.S., they spent one year in Stephen, MN and then moved to Clearbrook, where her sons, Bradley and Mark were born. Clarice and Jacob made Clearbrook their lifetime home.
Clarice was kind and gentle and her warmth touched all who knew her. She will be remembered for her compassionate heart, loving spirit, quiet strength, and her deep and abiding faith. Maternal to the core, Clarice found joy in the company of children, and they adored her. Clarice enjoyed gardening, bowling, reading, baking, music, church activities, and spending time with family. She made every holiday special and was famous through generations of grandchildren, for her "Easter Bunny Cakes."
Clarice was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Jacob, mother Mary, father Calvin, sister Betty Moos, and brother Gale Ames.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Saar, sons, Bradley (Paula) Boomgaarden, and Mark (Laura) Boomgaarden, brother, Dale (Rose) Ames, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
