Claud Chrisman Obituary

Claud Kent Chrisman, affectionately known as Kenny to his friends and Kent to his family, passed away peacefully at his home in Schenectady, NY, on September 30, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on February 21, 1938, in Herkimer, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Ruth (Mooney) Chrisman.

Kent's life was a testament to his selfless nature, his handy skills, his kind heart, and his tough-love spirit. If he didn't bust your chops, he didn't love you!

His formative years took him from Schenectady to Florida, attending several schools before graduating from Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady. His education laid the foundation for a life defined by dedication and hard work. Above all, he was a man who believed in using his hands to make a living.

A true entrepreneur, Kenny was the proud owner and operator of SLC Plumbing and Heating in Schenectady, NY. His business was not only his livelihood but also his way of serving his community-making sure every job was done with precision and care. His work ethic and commitment earned him the trust and respect of customers and friends throughout the Capital Region.

An adventurer at heart, Kenny cherished the freedom of the open road, traveling in his camper to explore new places and make lasting memories. His love for Disney was well-known, a place where he felt the same magic and wonder he carried within him. He loved spending time on Sacandaga Lake, boating, camping, and especially enjoying Northville, NY, where he spent much of his adult life with family.

Kenny also had a lifelong passion for Chevy trucks-his pride and joy. He spent countless hours cleaning, maintaining, and showing them off. A collector of tools and a craftsman at heart, he was always prepared to tackle any job. In retirement, Kenny could often be found driving around Schenectady, visiting job sites to check in with friends and catching up on all the local gossip-something he truly enjoyed.

Kenny's heart found its match in his beloved wife, Sherry (Brooks) Chrisman. Together, they were blessed with their daughters, Tara Rakoske (Jordan) and Charminka Canteen (Murray). He was also a devoted father to his children from an earlier chapter in life: Kim Mead, Collette Chrisman, and Loren Chrisman (Mary Kay Fenner). He was predeceased by his son, Charles Kent Chrisman.

Kenny's legacy lives on through his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever remember the laughter, love, and wisdom he shared. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Ayden, Ian, Morgan, Grayson, Luke, Lauryn, Jacob, Giovanna, Vincent, Bianca, Kyle, Adam, Tennille, Jeremy, and Becky, as well as by his great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Ed Miron, Claudette Bublak, Michele Beynon (Michael), and Rita Butler (Robert). He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Eggleston.

Above all, Kenny loved his family deeply and did everything he could to make sure they had what they needed. He was the best father, husband, brother, and friend-and he will be profoundly missed every day.

Calling hours for Kenny will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville.
